You don't need to leave the side panel to edit a Risk's setup. The Edit Risk details button on the Overview tab opens a full edit form right inside the panel — same fields and structure as the Risk page's Details tab.

Step 1: Open the edit mode

On the Risk Side Panel - Overview tab, click Edit Risk details. The graphics and tables on the Overview tab are replaced with the edit form.

To leave edit mode, click the Back button. If you have unsaved changes, you'll be prompted to confirm before discarding them.

Step 2: Edit the basic details

At the top of the form, you'll find the basic fields.

  • The Description is a rich-text field for explaining the Risk in detail. Category/Subcategory is a multi-select dropdown for tagging the Risk.

  • Risk Groups is a multi-select field with search for the groups this Risk belongs to.

  • The Master Risk field shows which Master Risk this Risk was generated from — click the name to open the Master Risk page in a new tab.

  • The Entity or Entity Group field shows what the Risk belongs to; clicking the name opens the Entity (or Entity Group) page in a new tab.

Step 3: Set the Risk Assessment Method (Step 1)

Risk Assessment Method — defines the methodology used to score this Risk. (Definitions for 5 levels of Impact and Likelihood)

Pick the method from the Risk Assessment Method dropdown. Once a method is selected, a View Definitions button appears next to the field; click it to open a pop-up with the full definitions for the chosen method, so you can refer to them while assessing.

Step 4: Configure the Risk Assessment (Step 2)

  • Risk Assessment — covers who assesses the Risk, how often, what the appetite is, and the Target score.

  • Set Risk's Assessor to the role that completes the assessment.

  • Set Assessment Frequency to how often the assessment cycle should repeat.

  • Set Appetite to your organisation's tolerance for this Risk.

  • The Risk Target is the score you want the Risk to reach. Click into the field to open the target pop-up. Inside the popup.

    • Clear scores (to remove the Target completely)

    • Set Target (to save the chosen score).

Step 5: Set the cycle schedule (Step 3)

Risk Assessment Cycle Schedule — controls the timing of cycles.

  • The Cycle Launch date shows the start date of the current cycle.

  • The Assessment due date shows the due date for the current cycle's assessment. The New Cycle Launch date shows when the next cycle will start.

  • The Synchronise dates with Master Risk checkbox keeps this Risk's dates in lockstep with the Master Risk it was generated from. Untick it if this Risk should follow its own schedule.

Step 6: Save your changes

  • Click Save to apply your changes — a success pop-up confirms the update.

  • Click Cancel to discard.

If you try to leave the tab, close the tab, or switch tabs with unsaved changes, BoardX prompts you with "Are you sure you want to leave the page? All the unsaved changes will be discarded" so you don't lose work.

Choose Cancel to keep editing or OK to discard.

If you click Save with required fields empty, those fields are highlighted in red with an error so you know what to fix.
